Ward is honored to conduct wedding ceremonies at his family's beautiful properties in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains ~ The Golden Horseshoe Inn and Blue Ridge Mountain Inn.He is also available to travel to the setting of your choice within 30 miles of Stanardsville, Virginia.
Alan immigrated to the United States as a boy, leaving his native Wales to start a new life with his family after World War II. He has led an adventurous life and has had several careers. He began his working life as an Architect, helping redesign cities destroyed by natural disaster. He has journeyed to sea, and is a retired U.S.C.G Captain. As a captain, Alan had the priviledge of performing many wedding ceremonies at Sea. For the last 20 years, he has worked as the Master Potter at his Gallery and Studio - Blue Ridge Pottery in Stanardsville, Virginia. As his family business has grown and expanded, several accommodations properties were added. Our lovely mountain setting lends itself to beautiful wedding ceremonies.
It is a special joy for Alan to conduct weddings once again. He delights in getting to know each couple he is honored to join in matrimony. Alan is happy to conduct traditional, non-traditional, civil, faith-based or non-demoninational ceremonies. He feels each ceremony should be a unique reflection of the individuals taking part. He and his staff are happy to help you create the perfect ceremony for the perfect day!

Celebrant Services
On Site Celebrant Services -$300
Alan is honored to perform a customized secular or religious ceremony for the two of you and up to 2 witnesses (witnesses not required in Virginia) at the Golden Horseshoe Inn. Witnesses are welcome to take photos. A more elegant and meaningful alternative to a courthouse ceremony. Includes use of our building or grounds for ceremony and filing of paperwork. He will dress in attire appropriate for your ceremony - his Captain's uniform, black tuedo suit, or casual attire, as you wish.
Off Site Celebrant Services - $300
Alan is honored to conduct a custom ceremony at the indoor or outdoor location of your choice within 30 Miles of Stanardsville, Va. He will dress in attire appropriate for your ceremony - his Captain's uniform, black tuedo suit, or casual attire, as you wish.
Off Site Ceremony and Rehearsal $400.00
Same as above, except includes participation in and travel to a seperate reheasal.
Potter's Signature Service
Alan offers a signature legalization service for couples who are planning a destination wedding, but choose to have their marriage legalized in the U.S., or who are planning a wedding, but prefer that their Virginia marriage license be solemnized at an earlier date. This document signing is conducted informally at the Blue Ridge Pottery studio (adjacent to the Golden Horseshoe Inn) by appointment. Please note that Alan will be dressed for work in his pottery studio, not in formal wedding attire.
Please note: No ceremony, vows or ring exchange, photography, video, babies/children of any age or additional guests with this package. Couples who wish to include any of the aforementioned should choose our on site celebrant service, conducted at the Golden Horseshoe Inn.
